Roger has joined a number of parliamentarians from both Houses of Parliament in signing a letter from the All Party Parliamentary Group on the Abolition of the Death Penalty, to Smt. Meira Kumar, Speaker of the Lok Sabha, welcoming the decision of Her Excellency President Patil to postpone the execution of Balwant Singh Rajoana and expressing the hope that the process to execute him will not be re-started.
The letter concludes: “....we thought it right to express our view and hope that colleagues in the Indian Parliament will see fit to ask Her Excellency President Patil to exercise her prerogative of mercy on Balwant Singh Rajoana and all others on death row who face such an uncertain fate.”
