Roger backs recognition of Bangla as an official language of the United Nations
Roger has put down an Early Day Motion (EDM) in the Commons, as he has done for the last several years, welcoming the on-going campaign initiated by Bangladeshis in the United Kingdom to have Bangla, which is the 5th most spoken language in the world, recognised as an official language of the United Nations.
The Bangladeshi community in the UK have been pressing the UK Government to support this proposal for a number of years and Roger has been at the forefront of the campaign to get Bangla recognised as one of the official languages of the United Nations.
