Roger has written again to the Foreign Secretary, William Hague, asking him to intervene on behalf of Prof Bhullar who recently lost his appeal in the Indian Supreme Court and now faces execution.
Roger said: “There are many, both within the Sikh community and outside, who believe that Professor Bhullar should never have been in this position and that the evidence in the case against him was at best dubious.
There are inherent difficulties of involvement in overseas jurisdictions but I have asked the Foreign Secretary to make the strongest representations possible to the Indian Government which would at least secure the life of Professor Bhullar and see his sentence commuted.”
