Roger backs proposals for double penalty points for drivers caught speaking on a mobile phone while driving.

Roger has given his strong support to proposals being considered by the Department for Transport for the doubling of the number of penalty points for drivers who are caught using a handheld mobile phone while driving.
Said Roger, “All the time I see drivers of vehicles flouting the law and using handheld mobile phones while driving. There have been some appalling tragedies associated with this and I am amazed that there are not many more accidents. Anybody using a handheld mobile phone - either speaking or texting - while driving is a menace to themselves, other road users and to pedestrians on the pavement. I would very much welcome doubling, or trebling, penalty points for this offence. Anybody can have a ‘hands-free’ phone fitted in the car and there is no excuse whatsoever for somebody using a handheld mobile phone.”
