Roger opposes Government spending on EU leaflets

Speaking at an event in his Hall Green constituency, Roger strongly criticised the decision of the Government to spend £9 million on sending leaflets to every household in the UK urging voters to vote to remain in the European Union Referendum on the 23rd June.
Said Roger: “It is totally wrong for the Government to spend £9 million on what is blatant propaganda in favour of remaining in the EU. This is taxpayers’ money, and the general public would much sooner see this money spent on public services – such as the Health Service – rather than on biased political propaganda.
“The Electoral Commission are already going to allocate money to both the ‘In’ and ‘Out’ campaigns for them to make their case to the people of this country and there is no justification, therefore, for the Government spending taxpayers’ money on this type of material, which is highly slanted and factually contentious.
“It shows how desperate the establishment is to try and ‘con’ the British people because it is just beginning to dawn on them that the British people are beginning to seriously question whether spending £50 million a day – £350 million a week and £19 billion a year – on being a member of the European Union is good value for money.”
