Birmingham Balti should be given protected EU food status, says Roger

Roger has criticised the decision by the European Commission to deny protected EU food status to the Birmingham Balti.
He commented: “The decision by the European Commission is stupid, arrogant and, in my opinion, snobbish. To give protected EU food status to Champagne and Parma Ham but to deny the Balti a similar status smacks, as Richard McComb said, of bureaucratic ignorance, and it would cause genuine offence to Balti restaurants throughout Birmingham, many of whom are in the Balti triangle in my constituency.”
