Said Roger: “It is an utter scandal for anyone to be treated in this way, let alone people who have made such a great contribution to this country. People from the Windrush generation came to the UK legally to fill essential roles, and it is utterly disgraceful that their children—who are British and have every right to be here—have been hounded in this way.

“It is extremely sad and very worrying to read that people have lost their jobs because of these failings by the Home Office and the Government. Some have also lost the opportunity to visit dying relatives overseas, which must be absolutely devastating.

“It is not acceptable for the Government to treat people like this and this needs to be resolved urgently, with apologies and compensation for those who have been affected. Systems also need to be put in place to prevent this happening to anyone else.”

Roger has signed the letter to the Prime Minister about the Windrush generation which was sent by David Lammy MP.
